Soil Steps

Head of Farming Systems, Regeno ยท Soil Steps researcher

George Peart

George helps livestock businesses build carbon and sustainability claims that hold up to scrutiny, combining frontline farm consulting with soil science research.

Read the research

Carbon claims from grazing systems are only as strong as the soil biology behind them. Soil Steps tests that biology directly.

Current role

George is Head of Farming Systems at Regeno. He brings more than five years of experience as a farm consultant focused on livestock sustainability, working with farms to turn sustainability strategy into practical change on the ground.

Research

Soil Steps is his Professional Doctorate at IBERS, Aberystwyth University. It asks whether grazing management changes soil microbial and nematode communities enough to explain why carbon outcomes from regenerative grazing vary so widely, and builds that biology into better carbon models.

Background

George trained originally in veterinary medicine, then moved through livestock research and agribusiness into sustainability consulting. That path has taken him across the UK, the EU, Africa, and India.
